about

“Porbandar” is an alt-country sea shanty from guitarist and producer Hans Deville. It’s all broody and melancholy, about keeping your dignity through tough times. Not the obvious bed fellow for an electronic music producer… but that’s what makes it so totally and utterly right! Right?

On taking on the challenge, Will LV says “The first thing that grabbed me when I was going through the parts for Porbandar was how the bass line reminded me of a kind of stepping disco pattern. So this became the basis of my approach. Once I sped up the original it started to take on a kind of sparser, new wave sort of vibe. I wanted to break up the vocal to allow me more freedom than the original arrangement. It was great to work with a different musical palette and style than I'm used to and I'm happy with the kind of weird groove that we ended up with...”

lyrics

And it’s one more time for
The waves that climb
And smash upon the wall
And it’s one last song for the siren
As she heeds the dying Call
Heeds the dying call
